Action Games for Beginners: How to Survive Longer

Updated 2026-10-06 ยท 2 min read

Action games can feel overwhelming at first, with enemies coming from every side. A few basic habits help you survive much longer, even in games you have never played.

Learn the movement before the fighting

Spend your first attempt just moving around. Find out how fast your character goes and how it turns. Comfortable movement makes everything else easier.

Keep moving

A standing target is easy to hit. In most action games, steady movement while you shoot or fight keeps you safer than standing still.

Deal with the closest threat first

When several enemies appear, handle the one nearest to you before aiming at the ones far away. Clearing threats in order stops a crowd from forming around you.

Study enemy patterns

Most enemies repeat the same moves. Watch one for a few seconds and you will often see when it attacks and when it is open. Fighting to a pattern beats button-mashing.

Use upgrades wisely

Many games let you spend what you collect on improvements. Put the first upgrades into the things that keep you alive, such as armor, before adding more firepower.

Know your goal

Some levels ask you to defeat everything, others to reach an exit. Read the objective at the start so you do not waste time on the wrong thing.

Games to practice on

Hunter Tung Tung Sahur and Italian Brainrot Hunter are both based on popular internet memes and share a simple layout: you move with the WASD keys, shoot the incoming enemies and then reach your exit, a plane in one game and a helicopter in the other. In Italian Brainrot Hunter you also need to defeat the strongest monster, Trallela. They are a gentle way to practice moving and shooting together.

Tank Master is a one-player tank shooter with more than 100 levels. You collect power-ups and coins and spend the coins on new cannons, bullets and armor, which makes it a good place to practice the upgrade habit above.

After each loss

Ask what hit you and where you were standing. Changing one thing on the next attempt is the quickest way to improve.
